Services for Older Adults & Seniors
ICAN is dedicated to helping seniors live safe, healthy, and independent lives. Our compassionate team offers tailored in-home support, homemaking, wellness programs, and daily assistance to meet the unique needs of older adults facing challenges like isolation or limited mobility. We focus on enhancing quality of life, safety, and community connection.
Independence Training Centre
Our Centre offers personalized support from a team of highly skilled professionals, including Occupational Therapists (OTs), Physiotherapists (PTs), and Rehabilitation Support Workers (RSWs). Together, we work with clients to develop customized programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Physical Activities Program
The Physical Activities (PA) program at ICAN uses a multidisciplinary approach to deliver safe, personalized physical rehabilitation. Clients are assessed to identify their needs, and customized rehabilitation plans are created and regularly reviewed. We also incorporate activities the client enjoys to ensure their fitness routine is both effective and engaging.
Aqua Movement & Fitness
The Aqua Movement & Fitness program utilizes the natural buoyancy and resistance of water to facilitate low-impact exercise, allowing participants to engage in physical activity safely. It is designed to progressively improve strength, mobility, and overall fitness through a structured series of water-based exercises.
TIME® – Together in Movement and Exercise
This 12-week group exercise program supports individuals in maintaining an active, independent lifestyle by improving mobility, strength, balance, and social engagement.
Developed by the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation.
FAME – Fitness and Mobility Exercise
A group exercise program designed for individuals living with physical disabilities or post stroke conditions, targeting balance, strength, mobility, cardiovascular fitness, and mental health. The evidence-based FAME program improves physical and cognitive function while reducing the risk of falls, fractures, and heart disease.
