ICAN Youth Services consists of:
After School Campus which runs from Monday to Friday 3 to 5:30pm. The program teaches age appropriate life skills necessary to direct and manage their life within the home, school and community. Cost: $9 per session
School Holiday Program, which includes, Christmas Break, Professional Development Day and exam days. The program runs from 8am to 5:30pm and consists of a variety of recreation, social and life skills. Cost: $11.25 per day (subsidized by Child Care Resources)
Camp Programs, which includes March Break and Summer Camp. The program runs from 8am to 5:30pm and consists of a variety of recreation, social and life skills. Cost: March Break Camp is $67.50 for session (subsidized by Child Care Resources), Summer Camp: $150.00 per week
Respite Saturdays include 10 separate parental respite day one Saturday per month from September to June. The program runs 10 AM to 4 PM and consists of a variety of recreation, social and life skills while providing parents a break.
Home Alone Program offered in partnership with the Red Cross. The program is a 4-hour session offered twice per year. The program educates teens on a variety of topics for staying home safe alone. Cost: $40 per session
You Go Girl program runs 4 times per year on Saturdays 10am until 4pm. The program educates teen girls on life skills that specifically affect young women. Cost: $11.25 per session
Criteria for programs above is:
- Between the ages of 12-18
- Physical disability
- Able of have the potential to learn how to direct their own needs
Teen Life Skills Program is for young adults with physical disabilities age 16 to 18 who are transitioning for children services to adult services. The program assists teens to set goals and learn the life skills required to achieve independence. Some of the topics include:
- Problem solving
- Communication
- Self Awareness
- Cost of program is covered through Ministry of Health
Northern Transition to Independence Program (TIP) is for young adults with physical disabilities age 17 to 21. The program is designed to provide learning and practical experiences required to live independently. The program is based on the Bloorview Kids Rehab model in Toronto. Cost reviewed annually.
